Severin “Sev” Krawiecki, 90-year-old resident of Buckman, passed away Jan. 17, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morrill with the Rev. Matthew Lanagager officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Morrill. A visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Jan. 25 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morrill. Caring for Severin and his family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz.

Severin was born June 20, 1933, in Morrill to the late Joseph and Rose (Schyma) Krawiecki. He grew up in  Ramey where his parents owned the local store, often helping his parents in the store, He attended Foley High School where he played football. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1954, where he graduated from both demolitations and combat engineering schools. He was stationed in Germany, and while serving, he received both the Sharpshooter and Good Conduct medals and was honorably discharged in 1956. Severin was united in marriage to Darlene Nelson in 1960 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morrill. He worked in the Minneapolis area as a tool and dye specialist, later becoming a foreman. In addition, he took on many jobs painting homes and businesses. In 1969, he saved up enough money to purchase his own business in Buckman and called it Sev’s Bar. Shortly after the bar burned down, he rebuilt it bigger and better and renamed it Sev’s Liquor and Food, bringing a full-service restaurant to the area. As the business grew, he purchased many properties and land along with his son, who took over the business when he retired. Sev was an avid motorcycle and car enthusiast, taking many trips throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico with family and friends. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, cooking and could often be found tinkering in his garage, repairing anything that was broken, building things and fixing old bikes for the local children. For the past 32 years, he spent winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, where he passed the time four-wheeling. He will be remembered as a generous man who was always willing to help anyone in need. Severin was a member of the Hillman American Legion and the VFW in Arizona.

He is survived by Kim (Mark) Harter of Colorado, Bonnie (Pat) Dehler of Sauk Rapids, Carol (Bobby Bednar) Krawiecki of Pierz, Pam Krawiecki of Little Falls, Kenton Krawiecki of Buckman and David (Beth) Krawiecki of Buckman; sister Shirley (Leonard) Stachowski of Blaine; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Sev was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Rose Krawiecki; wife, Darlene Krawiecki; brother, Kenny Krawiecki and grandson, Noah Harter.
