Doris (Fosvick) Folley passed away June 9, 2023, after battling pancreatic cancer in her home in Coon Rapids, attended by her daughters, Tracy and Cheryl.

Doris was born on a stormy January morning in 1949 and grew up in Sauk Rapids. She played the alto saxophone and painted scenery as a harlequin in school, graduating from Sauk Rapids High School in 1967, before getting married and embarking on her life as a mother. She attended Dunwoody Institute in the early 1990s, obtaining her degree in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems design, while being tutored by her high school age children.

Throughout her life, the church was the first place she sought out after each move, spending time as a Sunday school teacher. Doris built a life in the Twin Cities surrounded by family and friends and her deep faith. A longtime member of First Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Doris enjoyed the fellowship she shared with the congregation, played handbells, volunteered her time in the kitchen, and crocheted hats and scarves for those in need.

In her later years, Doris started traveling, reaching both coasts and making a final trip to the Bahamas shortly after her diagnosis, before spending her final days surrounded by loved ones.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents Martin and  Jeannette Phoebe, sister Cora, son Scott, granddaughter Jeannette Susan, and sisters-in-law Carol, Jill and Ella. She will be laid to rest at Benton County Cemetery.

Doris is survived by her sister Marlis (Rob), brother Melvin Boucher, her children Melvin Robert, Tracy, Daniel (Candace), Julie and Cheryl (Jason), 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at First Lutheran Church, 463 Maria Ave., St. Paul. Visitation is at 10 a.m., services at 11 a.m. Lunch to be held following at her home in Coon Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Doris’ name to the American Cancer Foundation at donate.cancer.org or American SIDS Institute at www.sids.org.
