Charles Tangen, age 78 of Foley, passed away Feb. 27, 2024, at The Gardens at Foley Nursing Center. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at First Presbyterian Church in Foley. The Rev, Beverly Brock will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial with full military honors will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Service with Dignity provided by the Foley Funeral Home. 

Charles Alvin Tangen was born Nov. 11, 1945, in Bremerton, Washington, to Alvin and Loraine (Flora) Tangen. He graduated from Motley High School and later joined the U.S. Marines. He lived and farmed in Motley for 70 years as well as operating a foster home for numerous children with his wife. The couple moved to Foley in 2022. He enjoyed hunting and farming. He was a member of the Motley American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Lois of Foley; son Charlie (Krista) of  Foley; and a daughter Misty (Martin) Harris of Little Falls; step-sons Brent (Sue) Dybevik of Virginia, Minnesota and Bradley Dybevik of Anoka; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a special fur grand Gracie, who adored her Chuck; brother Alvin; and sisters Margaret Rosenberg and Becky Gullixson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandy Kludts.
