Memorial services were April 5 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for Carol A. Helmin, 83 who passed away March 25, 2024, at Summit Ridge in Sauk Rapids. The Rev. Virgil Helmin officiated and burial was at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Brennyville.
Carol was born Oct. 17, 1940, in St. Cloud to Anton and Loretta (Schulte) Reller. She spent most of her life in the St. Cloud area, graduated from St. Benedict High School in 1958 and went on to earn a teaching certificate from the College of St. Benedict. She married Edward Helmin at the Church of St. Anthony in St. Cloud in 1981. She taught at St. John Cantius, Eden Valley and Cold Spring. Carol also worked at St. Benedict’s Nursing Home and worked at GOR-FOL Manufacturing until her retirement in 2010. Carol enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling league, involved with the CARE program in Foley and “Hands across the World,” teaching English to the Somali population.
Carol is survived by daughter Jennifer Reller of Sauk Rapids; grandsons Justin Reller and Angel Lee; great-granddaughter Molly Reller; siblings Kathy Hall of Sauk Rapids; sisters-in-law Millie Ballmann of St. Cloud, Karleen Reller of St. Paul and Jean Reller of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward in 2005; and 12 brothers and sisters.
