Posted

A collision between a utility terrain vehicle and a pickup truck led to the death of two women in Maywood Township April 13.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported that Jamie Lea Jendro, 44, of Princeton, was driving a UTV southbound with passenger Lindsay Erin Karsky, 34, of Oak Park, when they collided with a 2011 Chevy Silverado driving in the opposite direction.

Witnesses pulled Jendro and Karsky from the burning UTV wreckage. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at about 2:20 p.m. in the 9600 block of Ronneby Road Northeast.

The driver of the pickup truck, Todd Lee Henke, age 57, of Foley, suffered minor injuries from the crash and effort to save the women.

Witness statements indicated the UTV had been driving down the middle of the road at highway speeds before the crash, according to the sheriff’s office. Evidence at the scene displayed the point of impact occurred near the centerline of the roadway.

The circumstances leading to the crash are under investigation.

Deputies did not detect signs of impairment from Henke.
