Larry Edward LaVigne, 76, died Nov. 20, 2023, in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by his loved ones.

Born Sept. 10, 1947, to Roy and Lorene LaVigne, Larry lived most of his life in Foley He graduated from Foley High School in 1965, joining the U.S. Army in 1966. Larry proudly served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. On a return trip home from Massachusetts where he was stationed, Larry met a green-eyed beauty that captured his heart. He married Rosemary Hackett Aug. 16, 1969. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage, dedicating their lives to filling their home with love and raising their four children.

Larry was a husband, a partner, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle and a friend. Not to mention a sportsman, a card shark and a master on the grill. If you knew Larry, then you loved Larry. He took care of people and was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed being at the lake, watching wrestling and hosting legendary Texas Hold’em tournaments. One of his favorite traditions was an annual fishing trip to Canada that his dad started more than 60 years ago.

A hard worker with keen negotiation skills, Larry had a successful career with Automotive Parts Headquarters, retiring as the vice president of new business development after 40 years. He lived the latter part of his life splitting his time between Longville and Apache Junction, Arizona, sharing a sweet love and friendship with Dianne Nathe for the past 10 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his six grandchildren who would enthusiastically tell you that “Grandpa Larry is the best!”

Larry is survived by his children Stacy, Jeremy (Monica), Chad (Tara) and Sarah (Rick); grandchildren Tyler, Sophia, Alex, Justin, Loretta and Will; partner Dianne and her children and grandchildren; brothers Bob, Ron and Duane (Lilly); sisters Mary Kay (Ron), Juleen (Ron) and Joanie (Rick). In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life starting at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Mr. Jim’s, 840 MN-23, Foley, MN 56329.
