Maurice ‘Maury’ Corrigan, 81, of St. Michael, passed away March 19, 2023, in a Palmetto, Florida, hospital after a short illness. His wife, Judy, was at his side. A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 3, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm. The Rev. Joseph Backowski will officiate and burial with full military honors will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Sauk Rapids. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the church Saturday.  Service with dignity provided by the Foley Funeral Home. 

Maurice Anthony Corrigan was born Aug. 22, 1941, in Benton County to Emmet and Sarah (Tracy) Corrigan. He graduated from Foley High School, class of 1959, and attended St. Cloud State University for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Maury served as a medic, spending time in Germany. He married Judy Kilgard Jan. 5, 1963, at St John’s Catholic Church in Foley, the couple recently celebrating a 60th anniversary. After marriage and his honorable discharge, Maury continued his education at SCSU receiving a bachelor’s degree. Later he earned his masters of education from the University of Minnesota. Maury, with Judy and their children, lived most of their lives in Plymouth where Maury taught 30 years in the Minneapolis public schools. His most recent assignment was at South High.  He enjoyed his students and he enjoyed the time spent working on behalf of teachers and volunteering in his church. Upon retirement, the couple spent winters in Palmetto. Maury dearly loved his family and enjoyed golf, reading, music, fishing and cooking as well as riding his bicycle and traveling the world. 

Maury is survived by his wife, Judy Corrigan, and children; Melissa Pellegrini, Los Angeles, California, and Sean (Mary) Corrigan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as grandchildren: Marcello, Luca, Malena, Ryan, Luke and Sara and a sister, Kathleen Corrigan of Foley. He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.  

Maury will be remembered as a kind, good man known for his easy smile, his Irish wit, his love of family and friends, and his key lime pie.
