David Allen Bonkoski, age 81, of Foley, passed away peacefully Oct. 11, 2024. He was born in Elgin, Illinois Jan. 4, 1943, and graduated from St. James High School in 1961.
After graduation, David enlisted in the Army and served three tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. He was an avid supporter of veterans and loved working with antiques and military paraphernalia.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Reba Jo; father, Lloyd; stepmother, Kathleen “Susie”; sister, Barbara Davidson; and brothers, Bruce and Aaron.
He is survived by his sisters, Karen (Gary) Walters, Genevieve (Duane) Fuller, and Diane (Bill) Schaper; sister-in-law, Regina Bonkoski; eight nieces; and 13 nephews.
A celebration of life will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 with a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at the VFW of Crystal, 5222 Bass Lake Road, Crystal. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
