FOLEY – Benton County’s summer construction program features almost 40 miles of roadway improvements. The first construction year of the county’s five-year plan includes up to $16 million in estimated project costs.
FOLEY – A special banquet at Mr. Jim’s in Foley April 1 ended with five of the Benton County dairy industry’s best and brightest being crowned as Benton County’s dairy princesses and dairy ambassador. The newly crowned dairy princesses are Jacqualynn Beauchamp, Lily Dahler, Heidi Montag and Gabby Orton, while Cylie Marshik takes up the mantle of dairy ambassador. Marshik plans to pursue a role as a dairy princess next year when she reaches the eligible age.
FOLEY – Foley area residents attended a one-hour listening session with Minnesota House Rep. Isaac Schultz, who represents House District 10B, March 31 at New Life Church in Foley. Schultz started the listening session by highlighting the high quality of life that rural Minnesotans have come to appreciate – one that is vastly different than that of larger cities and the metropolitan areas of the state.
FOLEY – The Foley Ambassador Committee is accepting applications for potential ambassadors and junior ambassadors to represent Foley at various events throughout the next year. Applications are due April 14. Applicants for ambassador must be ages 16-20 by June 1, and junior ambassadors must be ages 11-13 by the same date. Successful applicants will be residents of Foley or its surrounding community.

FOLEY – Gilman faces a $5.2 million funding gap for proposed sanitary and storm sewer repairs. During a Benton County Board meeting March 21, city representatives outlined the need for outside financial assistance. The city requires almost $12.7 million in improvements to correct significant utility system deficiencies.
FOLEY – When spring practices kicked off at Foley Public Schools March 13, there existed a startling dichotomy between the activities taking place within the district’s indoor facilities and the environment right outside its doors.
FOLEY – Samuel Hubert Wesenberg, 60, of Foley, was charged in the 7th Judicial District Court with four counts of legal violations. The counts include burglary in the second degree, a felony; violation of a domestic abuse no contact order, a gross misdemeanor; a violation of a domestic abuse order for protection, a gross misdemeanor; and obstructing legal process or arrest, a gross misdemeanor.
FOLEY – Benton County finalized the vote totals behind the township elections March 14, and the final tally showed that voters decided on a similar landscape of township leaders. All supervisor terms in Benton County are three years while treasurers serve two-year terms.
